Good morning, everyone -
Based on some interest that was expressed to me privately, I just finished posting a series of recipes from Germany that I hope contain both quintessential and interesting recipes from there. These, along with the ones that were already there, should hopefully get someone started well down the road of learning about the food traditions in Germany. If anyone would like to see any other German recipes, let me know, and I'll see if I have them at my disposal. Now that I am finished with that, I got to thinking that other members might be interested in seeing some recipes from somewhere else. I know that Brook is working on a special project, and I am not going to spill any beans on that one - you all will just have to wait! ![]() Having said that, if anyone is interested in seeming more recipes from anywhere, please let me know. I'll find what I can, and post on it. Ron |

Black forest cake, practically my absolute favorite cake.
I admit I have a limited knowledge of German cuisine, although in my travels in the past to Germany, I enjoyed it a lot, accompanied by a good beer. It will be interesting to see the recipes and learn something more (and also cook them).
Waiting for Brook special project......

I am truly into Mediterrean cuisine and rarely eat meat .. With this in mind, I would say: Provençal French The Greek Islands ( Crete & Skatos ) Malta Moroccan Lebanese Syrian Persian Nordic, particulary Copenhagen, Denmark Though I have made a few dishes from the above countries, I am veered toward nothing you would serve a " tourist " .. Italian Regional and Iberian Regional are my basic diet .. Japanese and occasionally Thai or Cambodian, I prefer to eat out .. Too complicated for fresh herbs and it lands up being cheaper to eat it out .. German, Czek, and most of the land locked Eastern European countries excluding Bucharest and Brasov in Romania, are not particulary my cup of tea as they are very carnivore focused. |

Hi, Melissa and Margi -
I'll see what I can find with those, and try to get a few posted up for you both. ![]() Melissa, as I recall, Chicken Yassa is from West Africa? I have a couple of resources there, so will take a look to see if I can find that, specifically. Margi - I should be able to find a few examples from all (or nearly all) of those areas that you list. most recently, I posted about Kebabe Morgh: http://foodsoftheworld.activeboards.net/kababe-morgh_topic5365.html I think that this is one I would definitely like to try. ![]() |

Yeah, sure, Florenza. Put the pressure on. ![]() Seriously, I'm just about ready to start writing it up. It's been a wild trip, over the past several months, researching and cooking for it. But I think you'll enjoy it once I start posting. |

I'm not sure how Israeli style pita differs from others. If made correctly, all pita (along with several other flatbreads, such as Nan and Lavash) should be on the chewy side.
Have you tried any recipes that call for the addition of whole wheat flour? That often helps. "Flatbreads & Flavors" has one such recipe. Another thought: Maybe you're heat isn't high enough, and the dough is overcooking. Try kicking it up a notch or two. The faster it cooks the better. |
