Hey, guys -

I embark for Australia in a couple of days; we'll drive from Chinook to Great Falls, then fly from there to Sydney with layovers in Salt Lake City and Los Angeles. I'm looking forward to it and expect to have a great time.

I'll do my best to keep in touch ~

Ron

Our wanderer has been heard from.

Got a quick note from Ron, with 9 our of 10 words superlatives about what Australia is like.

I reckon we'll get a full report when he returns to Chinook.

Hi, guys -

The Beautiful Mrs. Tas and I are back, unpacked, and mostly back on schedule!

As Brook said, I ran out of adjectives and adverbs on the first day - simply put, the entire experience was amazing...the people, the sights and the foods were an absolute joy.

I'll have much more on the foods when I have a little more time, but for now, this link should go to a photo album of our trip:

https://photos.app.goo.gl/nFvXAX9GmHCxoSPL7

Enjoy, and please feel free to ask questions about any of the photos - I didn't include any captions.

Immediate food goals include learning to make Malaysian Laksa, and possibly re-creating Turkish Sucuk sausage; we had the Laksa for lunch one day and a traditional Turkish Breakfast (including the Sucuk) on another. Much more food, from many corners of the world, was enjoyed as well, including a few Australian favourites.

That's all for now...more later -

Ron

Hi, Margi -

The Beautiful Mrs. Tas is not a wine (or beer!) drinker, so I was on my own in that department. I had planned on meeting up with a friend in Sydney who knows quite a bout about Australian wines, and intended to sample a few with him; unfortunately, the plan fell through and we weren't able to meet up.

I did try a few different beers, and found them to be very good. I brought a few others home, and will be trying them over the coming weeks.

Ron,

Thanks again for the truly outstanding photographs ..

Surely, you must have a bit of jet lag  !!

How many hours from California to  Sydney  ?

Have a great wkend ..

Next FOTW holiday is  Thanksgiving ..

However, we are not fans of turkey, so shall get together to do hunted game, however, not sure what yet ..

Maybe some wild pheasants or wild boar or wild ducklings  or wild venison or red partrdige wild of course, and or wild guinea fowl ..

I shall post up ..  we can only do this on a Saturday as we both work Thursdays here in Spain ..

Hi, Margi -

I must have been extremely lucky - I didn't really experience any jet lag that I was aware of, in either direction. On the flight from Los Angeles to Sydney (and again on the return trip), it seemed as if the Airline (Virgin Australia partnered with Delta) tried to take some of this into account. The flight times were such that we arrived about mid-morning at the destination, and they encouraged us to get some sleep between meals (the flight was a little over 13 hours each way); I was able to do this, and as far as I can tell had no lag. Then again, I'm a very flexible person when it comes to sleep and hours of sleep.
