Here are 2 pictures of the smoker/cooker I have nearly finished.
All the material is salvage except for the hot plate , it came from a small imitation Walmart that is going out of business, it was reduced 40% from the $24 original price. I hope I can post pictures, about to find out. It is 20x16 x 36", the hot plate is a 500/1000w unit, so I can have 3 temperatures, the foam insulation is 3/4"/ R.5. Once I have finished it and have something to smoke/cook I shall be back I have a 2x2x4' smoker but the hot plate is only 500w and even in mid summer only gets to about 115', this time of year it only gets to 100' Great to cold smoke but sometimes I want more heat to smoke and cook at the same time. I still need to paint the outside and that should do it. Don |

Looks good. What are you using for insulation?

Insulation is rigid styrene insulating sheathing board, interior is lauan mahogany , 3.5mm plywood.
I am going to paint the outside and I need to plug the thermometer in the block in the center of the door. I have some pork chops sugar curing and they are going to be the first test run subjects. Again, other than the hotplate, this is all left overs and salvage. I believe it could be duplicated for about $60 if everything was purchased new. |
