    Posted: 05 July 2013 at 12:52

I was born in Romania many many years ago , at the age of 6 my parents  run way from Romania  and migrated to Israel .

We settled in a small suburb of Haifa . we were housed in a housing project that Housed immigrants from all over the world.

My  friends came  from Egypt, Iran , Iraq , Poland , morocco ,and eastern Europe . as children to parents

That Both of them are working (it was a working class Neighborhood ) after school me and my friends  used to chose at whose house we eat today . in those days I developed a love for Different food flavors

and spices that enriched  my life . my wife and me moved to South Africa and we were exposed to new food flavors ,but the memory of my childhood food stays with me .

Why do  I tell you my food history  story ?

Because  I decided to recreate few of these  dishes . I asked my friends (we still best friends  ) to send me There grandma best dish recipe .

My first dish  will be from Iraq  Red kuba soup .

AHRON,

What a beautiful way to present your background Story, and a wonderful beetroot & tomato dish, I could see ... Looks truly wonderful. And your background is more interesting and varied than mine. Paternal from Venezia went to Manhattan & French maternal to Montreal. My Mom Eva,left Montreal for a profesional translating post, in Manhattan which is how she met Dad.

I know what Matza Meal is as I had Jewish colleagues when I lived and worked in Manhattan; however, in Spain, it is non existent.

Which flour would you substitute for the Matza Meal for a similar taste profile for the dumplings ?

LOVELY ARRAY OF COLORS !!!

TRULY LOOKS GREAT.
