![]() DESERT SUNRISE, is a lovely cocktail, to watch the sun rise together. It can also be prepared with fresh fruit of seasonal availability.
DESERT SUNRISE
CHILI BLACKBERRY SYRUP - part 1.
4 dried pasilla chili peppers
2 cups sugar
1 1/2 cups water
1/4 cup lemon juice
3/4 cups fresh blackberries or well thawed and drained frozen
Discard stems from chili peps.
Break chilies with seeds into a medium size saucepan, and then boil together: sugar, water, and lemon juice stirring until the sugar is dissolved and reduced to 2 cups. 12 to 15 mins.
Purée the black berries, in a blender; and then force, through a fine mesh sieve in a heat proof bowl.
Discard the seeds and do not clean the blender.
DESERT SUNRISE - part 2.
1 1/2 oz. Tequila ( 3 tblsps. )
1/2 ounce chili black berry syrup
4 oz. fresh squeezed Orange juice ( 1/2 cup )
1 tsp. fresh lemon, orange or lime juice and garnish with a slice of citrus
Stir together tequila and chile blackberry syrup and fill a 12 ounce high ball glass with ice, and then pour tequila mixture over ice, and top with the citrus juices and stir prior to sipping.
