On March 19th, is poultry day in the USA ...

How about some simple tips for some of these local food days ?

MARCH 20th:  ravioli day ( Always one of our favorites )

MARCH 21st:  strawberry day ( In Madrid, we are fresh strawberry season from Aranjuez, a southern suburb and farming region close to the Toledo frontier )

MARCH 22nd: coq au vin day

MARCH 23rd:  chip and dip and melba toast day ( Ron´s lovely Cheese Dip ... Italian Style )

MARCH 24th:  chocolate covered raisin day

MARCH 25th:  pecan day ( one of my faves ... Dan´s Pecan Pie ! )

HAVE FUN,
MARGI.

    Hmmmm, March 19 is poultry day.  It is hard to beat a whole roasted chicken with homemade bread...simple, yet keeps the poultry the star of the dish.

   March 25th Pecan Day?  I couldn't understand why pecan day would be so early, I would think it would be sometime in November.  So I looked a little closer into this and it turns out that March 25th is Commemorating the day in 1775 that George Washington planted pecan trees given to him by Thomas Jefferson.  Well, I didn't know that...but I have to think that I would like it a little more if we celebrated a day a few years later when he started receiving a decent harvest from those pecan trees, oh well Disapprove

Enjoy The Food!

Dan,

Thanks so much for your lovely contribution ... I too, thought it a bit early seasonally, thinking of your dynamic pecan pie in autumn close to Thanksgiving would be just perfect. And by that time, I would be able to get one of the members to Federal Express me,  some for your pie or go through Amazon or www.tasteofamerica.com

The website listing these national, state and local food day celebrations is:

I printed out the list, thinking it an interesting conversation ... and the historical background on each celebration, is always an interest to us ...

Thanks again for your feedback;
Marge.
