I was laughing at some of the comments about snails on different thread and it made me think of the absolute worste tasting thing I have ever had in my mouth under the pretence of food.
For me that would be hands down SEA CUCUMBER
I have traveled abroad a lot and tasted many things and most if not all I can get down so as not to insult the host, but this I could not choke down!
How about you?

Yep! Did you ever have that God-awful codfish soaked in lye that the Swedes make? Lutefisk I think they call it. Damn! I want to hurl just thinking about it

I have not. Have wanted to try it just to say I have, but Fish and Lye do not belong in the same sentence. They have big Lutifisk parties up here every year. Luckly I'm out of town that Sunday
Never figgured out why people could use LSD or Meth either. Same princible why ingest known poisons? To each thier own.

the lye in the lutefisk is necessary for the final product. i've got some research on it and will post. certainly not harmful.
as for my absolute worst, i've been pretty lcuky so far. i can try almost anything a couple of times, but raw celery, green peppers and canned (not fresh) spinach will get the gag machine going every time!

About the only thing that I can remember right now that instantly kicks in my gag reflex is menudo. Just the smell makes my stomach churn.

While cooking yes, but the finished product smells great. Boiling tripe can kill a man!
