Horseradish Pot Roast
Don't be afraid....the horseradish mellows a great deal as it cooks. Heat oven to 350° 1 three pound boneless beef chuck 2 jars beef gravy 1/4 cup chili sauce 2 tablespoons cider vinegar 2 tablespoons dark brown sugar 3 tablespoons prepared horseradish or more, to taste 1 onion sliced 8 carrots peeled and pared 4 potatoes peeled and quartered 2 cloves garlic minced 1. Season roast well with salt and pepper and place in a large Dutch Oven. 2. place onion slices on roast. 3.Mix gravy, chili sauce, vinegar, sugar, horseradish and garlic in medium bowl, and pour over roast. 4. Cook for 90 minutes @ 350° then turn roast over, add carrots and potatos and return to oven for one hour or until done. Recipe formatted with the Cook'n Recipe Software from DVO Enterprises. |

Wow great looking pot roast Hoser and I'm a big horseradish fan. Thanks for that recipe!
Come to think of it, I have a couple of chuck roasts in the freezer right now. I guess I will try this! |

I finally made this for Mrs. Hoser yesterday...by the time we ate, I was so hungry I forgot to take any pic of it plated, but will go through the prep for everyone. Got all the ingredients together, then rubbed the chuckie with salt, pepper and granulated garlic.
Mixed the other ingredients (had to use salsa since I ran out of chili sauce) Browned chuckie up well since I was using the slow cooker to finish it, then poured the rest of the ingredients over and put it on low for 8 hours. Came home to a great meal, and I promise to take plated pics next time. |
