on the 26 September I committed myself to a challenge .
now is the time to pay my debt . this is a recipe i got from Hungarian book in Hebrew .(no alcohol) 2 tins of Sour cherries 4 cups water 1/2 cup sugar Cinnamon stick 1 tbs lemon juice 2 tbs flour 1 cup cream 1 lemon peel 1 yolk in a pot mix the cherries ,water,lemon juice, sugar,cinnamon . bring to boil mix the flour with the cream and the yolk . add to the cherries and cook till thickens . add the peel . chill it well . enjoy |

I love this recipe, Ahron. Simple, with readily available ingredients.
I can get sour cherries, but only in plastic containers. What size were the tins you used? |

it is very creamy with a sour sting and with the sweetness of the cherry . lovely dish for a hot day . |

Ahron,
This is called Cherry Gazpacho in Iberia´s Cherry Designation of Origin, Valle de Jerte, in northern Extremadura at the 3 corners, where Toledo, Ávila and Salamanca preside. It is absolutely delicious. I am going to use fresh cherries and eliminate the white sugar, ( cannot consume ) and follow your recipe ! Thank you very much for posting. Bon voyage. |
