here's a question -

what ever happened to "salted in the shell" peanuts? i've noticed the last few years peanuts taste a little different and that they seem to be of different....inferior quality. the shells seem all fibrous and twine-like rather than how they used to be, and somehow "dryer," for lack of a better word.

the nuts inside doesn't taste the way they used to, either - stale and bland, for the most part, except for an occasional over-roasted one (which i love to find!).  in short, they taste like the cheap, generic "store-brand peanuts" used to taste.

i thought maybe it was the brand i tried and have tried many of other ones since, but it is all the same. plus, i see now that rather than calling them salted in she shell peanuts, they are saying "in-shell (note the hyphen) salted peanuts," a subtle-yet significant difference.

coincidence? i don't know, but i am dying for a decent old-fashioned peanut. even planters and fisher peanuts suck now.

I tihnk you have to go to Fenway Park to get a decent bag of peanuts now....and that'll cost you about 5 bucks at a Red Sox game Confused
Go ahead...play with your food!

I dunno...I haven't bought any like that in years. I'll have to grab a sack at the grocery store next time I go. They have them from back in North Carolina, salted and hot and spicy.
