Nothing is better than a breakfast or lite lunch on a sweltering hot day than a frozen acai bowl.  There, I've said it.  They are delicious.

Most folks have heard of acai by now but may not know any more about it than the name. Acai is a nutritional wonder berry that grows at the top of the acai palm tree that is native to Brazil. These bowls may (or may not) have been developed by native Brazilian surfers.  I like the story even if it may have been embellished a bit.

Acai bowls can be found all over Hawaii.  Because of this many touristy people mistakenly believe it is a Hawaiian dish.  No, no, no.

Acai berries are not available in my neck of the woods and I don't believe they can be found anywhere in the US but the frozen berry pulp is a different story.  I've seen it at health food stores and even at Costco.

There are many bowl recipes online but there really is no recipe.  Throw a couple of frozen acai (ahh..saa..eee) packs into a high speed blender along with a frozen banana and add whatever you like after that.  I add a little almond milk just to get the blender moving.  The bowl pictured below has frozen blueberries, walnuts, rolled oats, hemp hearts and sliced banana.  Most of which is not visible since I stirred it up before deciding to take a pic.  Strawberries and granola are popular toppings.  Use whatever floats your boat then dig into a nutritional powerhouse that tastes like an awesome frozen dessert.

This stuff is addictive.  You have been warned.

It looks great to me...and easy is good, too - especially in the morning!

I'll have to see what I can find out about the acai berries; breakfast is an important meal, setting up the rest of the day, and it is often too easy to forget that.

Gracoman,

Lovely ..  They are quite common in Portugal  !

If I found your coral  red Split pea shaped Bio  Lentils ( 500 grams = 1/2 kilo) for  2 Euros, 75 Euro Cents ( E  2.75 )  I am sure I can come up with some  Acai Berries fresh or frozen !!

Looks like a lovely breakfast or dessert ..

Thanks for posting ..
