Have you ever had 1 of those days where you are Hungry but do not know exactly what your hungry for? Then you sit and think about it and come up with something you really could eat but it is 1 of those things you only treat yourself too 1 time a year or maybe 1 time every other year!
Today is 1 of those days! So, I figured might as well post about it on Foods of the World site and others might try it or might have made it before...
about 6 years ago my Sister asked me to have a cook out, just her and I....We set a day where my wife and daughter were going to be going away for the day and my Sister went and bought a mess of different Fish, Shrimp, Scallops, Clams and Oysters...
When she got to my place she started sitting everything out on the kitchen counter so she and I could make up some aluminum foil pouchs and pack them with different types of fish and shrimp and scallops and different seasonings..I jokingly said "WHERE is the Lobster" and she laughed, she was going to get 2 but wasn't sure if I'd eat it or not...I laughed and told her that she should know me by know, we only been brother and sister all our lives and I NEVER Turn down any kind of seafood!
We drove to the Grocery store and bought 2 big lobsters and back to the house... I fired up the BBQ Grill to make everything..
When the Charcoal was glowing nicely, we tossed a few of the pouchs on the grill...my sister said she would get a pot of water boiling for the lobsters.. I told her, forget the pot of water, those lobsters were going STRAIGHT on the Grill to cook!
She never had grilled lobster before... Here is how I do mine..
I take the lobster alive and place them on the grill with a good amount of hot coals going under the area the lobster is going to be placed, I put the lobster on over those coals and put the lid on the Grill and let it go for about 15 minutes, I then turn the lobster over on it's back and let it go another 5 minutes on it's back and it is ready then to be eaten..
My Sister could not get over how good lobster taste after grilling it and never knew you could take a whole live lobster and just place it on a grill and cook it, she always thought you had to cut them in half and cook them with the meat side down.,...
Nope, you can cook them live on a BBQ Grill!
My Sister now perfers her lobsters made this way!
I could really eat some lobster but do not have the money today to go and get a lobster and some shrimp and scallops and make them on the grill...so I just have to remember how good it is!
We also have another way of doing different seafood mixed together on the BBQ Grill...My Wife and Daughter will only eat certain fish...my wife only will eat perch, crappy, cod and the "Cardboard" Fish sticks out of the Box..Our Daughter will only eat the "Cardboard" Fish sticks out of a box, she refuses to eat any other type of fish and both my wife and daughter do not like shrimp, lobster, scallops or clams and oysters...so it is only some times when My Sister mentions she would like to do a BBQ that I end up eating alot of Seafood...
my Sister had taken a whole salmon fillet 1 day and laid it out, pulled the pin bones out of it, took the skin off it and then laid plastic wrap over it and pounded the H E Double Hockey sticks out of that fillet till it was nice and thin...she then placed shrimp, scallops, lobster pieces and clams on it that she had steamed for a few minutes just to cook them half way sprinkled some Old Bay, Garlic Powder, Onion Powder and placed a few bay leaves ontop of all that and then Rolled the fillet up so that the shrimp, scallops, lobster and clams were inside it and it looked like a pin wheel..she started at the tail and rolled it up to where the head would have been, placed a nice piece of butter ontop and wrapped it in aluminum foil and we cooked it on th grill...I do not remember how long it took to cook but it was a while...
I never had anything before it or since that was as good as that! Never seen it made in and resturants before or after!
It was Very Good and did not fal apart like I thought it was going to do!
Anyone do seafood like this? I know there are clam/lobster bakes done but what we did isn't exactly a Clam/Lobster bake!
I guess I'm going to have a BBQ before winter when I have the funds to do so and make some lobster and other seafood on the grill...gotta love days where you are hungry for something, what is in the freezer and fridge just do not look like what you want and end up thinking of what I'm thinking of in the way of BBQd seafood and do not have the money to go buy it!
Looks like it is going to be a pizza night..atleast it is easy and fast!
