In an old edition of one of my American Magazines, I had come across this very valuable article which recommends 3 books from 3 different authors and authoresses.

I thought this to be of great interest to some of you on Fotw.

1)  AT OMA´s TABLE : written by Authoress Doris Schecter.

Doris had written about her family´s dramatic fleeing during WWII from Vienna, Austria to the USA and all the recipes handed down from generation to generation, and then, to her. Her specialties include, Beef Goulash, Chicken Soup, and Latzkes with homemade Applesauce.

2) THE BERGHOFF FAMILY COOKBOOK : written by Authoresses Jan and Carol Berghoff.

When Chicago´s renowned Berghoff Restaurant had closed its doors in 2006, Jan and Carol had decided to publish the family´s recipes. Since 1892, four generations of this family, had gathered their recipes in pen. Some of the recipes include: Beer braised brisket, crab cakes, and other German specialties throughout the 4 generations.

3) CAFE INDIANA

Written by: Joanne Raetz Stuggen, had written a chapter of this book while looking for a banana cream pie. She had personalised each recommendation with anecdotes about the meals she shared and the interesting people she met with accompanying maps and it is quite a food tour.
It focuses on Indiana State´s cafés, diners, restaurants and coffee shop fare.

Happy 3 Wise Men Day,
Margaux.
