If any of you are fans of the show you know what triple D means. Thats right Diners, Drive Ins and Dives. They are coming to our little spit of a town Cloquet, here in northern Minnesota and are featuring a local drive in called Gordy's Hi Hat. Gordys has been here for years, 50 to be exact. They have been chosen as the best burger place in Minnesota. But what I go there for are his fish sandwiches or his fish and chips. They are excellent. His burgers are good but truthfully there are better burger joints locally.
I enjoy the show and find it entertaining and am always surprised at some of the great dishes the chefs can turn out in some of these small cramped little backroom kitchens with a set of old beat up pots and pans, and a flat griddle.
Anyway the Food Network will be here filming from May 13th thru the 20th. Quite the excitement for all us small town folks. It has been the talk at the local barber shop for weeks
Here is a link to Gordy's web site

awesome news! we've got a couple of places that could be considered diners. drive-ins or dives, but they don't ahve the CHARACTER that you soo on the DDD show. one place, called rod's drive-inn, has "the ugly burger," but it isn't anything really super-duper special, jsut a loaded hamburger.
