Well it's plum season around here and my cousin posted this on facebook last night, so I had to share it here. Unfortunately we lost my grandma to cancer while I was still in high school so a lot of what I have to remember her by is her recipes. I do not recall ever having this recipe of hers, but odds are I have more times than I can remember. Since I have a batch of plums sitting on my counter this seems like a good time to revive her recipe.

Please note, this recipe calls for prunes (aka dried plums) however I'm willing to bet that she used fresh plums. Either way though, I'm betting it's going to be good.

Here's her original hand written recipe:

Prune Coffee Cake

Blend 3/4 cup sugar - 1 egg - 1/4 cup margarine, softened - 1.5 cup flour - 1/2 tsp salt - 2 tsp baking powder and 1/2 cup milk.
Mix and pour into 9x13 greased pan.
Pit enough prunes to cover dough.
Mix 1/2 cup brown sugar - 3 Tbsp flour - 1 tsp cinnamon - 3 Tbsp margarine, softened - 1/2 cup milk. Sprinkle over top of prunes.
Bake at 375 for 35 minutes.

Here's my cousin's picture of the finished product from last night.

I can't wait to get home tonight and try it.

This is incredible, Mike - and exactly the sort of thing that this forum is all about.

How did it turn out? By the photo, it looks delicious ~

Thanks a million for posting this - I am grateful to you for sharing it. I would very much like to give this a try, and will see about making it as part of our Christmas supper.

Ron

Thanks Ron, unfortunately I ran out of time and didn't get to try the recipe. Cry We left for a week in Hawaii the friday after I posted that and with getting everything packed and all the kids ready to go and such I didn't get a chance to make it, and of course the plums were bad by the time I got back. It just sort of slipped my mind after that. Thanks for bumping this back up, I will have to see if I can pick up some more plums and give this a shot now that things are starting to slow down a bit. Thumbs Up

My mom used to make something similar but upside-down. Blue plum halves tossed with sugar and sprinkled with tapioca, then topped with a sweet yeast dough. Bake. While warm turn out onto a plate and top with powder sugar frosting. Good memories. Thanks for the prompt.
Best,
Tom

speaking of coffee beans, it's really hard choice to make, it's hard to choose the most suitable ones. To be honest, I wasn't able to deal with making wise choice of coffee beans without so many espresso bean reviews. Moreover, this review was the most helpful, imagine there is a source which contains every small detail about coffee beans and helps you to make choice of coffee beans regarding your preferences. This source contains all data regarding coffee beans and their origin. the ranking is pretty fair, I'd say, I've tested practically every type of these beans.
