Came home from work a couple of nights ago and what was waiting for me but another great package of goodies sent to me by my friend, Rivet. What an awesome box of stuff this is.
First up is this Boulevard Wheat Beer. What better gift to receive than beer? ![]() This is one of the best wheat beers I have ever tried, it has a very clean finish without the cloying sweetness that so many wheat beers seem to have. I really, really like this beer. Look at the great color and slight cloudiness in the pour, just what one expects from a good weizen . It tastes as good as it looks. ![]() Rivet knows how crazy I am about tinned fishes so he sent me some more smoked sprats, the other 4 cans he sent me are long gone, along with a can of fried sprats in tomato sauce, that sounds delicious, and a can of saury. I wasn't familiar with saury until Rivet sent these and I can't wait to try them. If you have never tried these various Baltic fishes you need to, even Mrs. Andy loves them. ![]() These salad dressing are from a famous restaurant in Missouri where Rivet lives. The bottle of Ott's original has a recipe on the back for Ott's famous sloppy joes made using this salad dressing. We made the sloppy joe recipe the other night and everyone loved it, we'll definitely be making it again. I can't wait to try the poppy seed dressing, also. ![]() I also received a local steak seasoning from Kansas City and a jar of Himalayan Pink Sea Salt. We had steak night last and used this steak seasoning. Outstanding! Who knows steak better than the beef capital of Kansas City? The sea salt is really cool. It is called "Primordial Himalayan Pink Sea Salt". It states on the bottle that it was deposited in the Himalayas 250 million years ago! How cool is that! Rivet knows I am a tea drinker and love honey. He sent me this huge jar of Ozark honey. It has a delicious light flavor and color, the bees make it from the blossoms of prairie flowers. ![]() Rivet had previously sent me a jar of Curly's Hot barbecue sauce which is fantastic stuff. He sent me a jar each of Hickory and Smoky this time around, can't wait to try them. We'll be smoking some chicken and ribs here shortly and these will be put to good use. ![]() Lastly, the hot stuff. A jar of Mexican Villa Hot Sauce and a jar of Dave's Dragon Dust. The hot sauce is really good, I've been eating it like salsa with tortilla chips but I like really hot food, you may not want to do that. I have been trying to get hold of some Dragon Dust for some time but Dave only produces it once a year when he harvests his peppers and it doesn't last long. It is a pure pepper blend of red and orange habaneros, red savinas, scotch bonnets, pequins, and many others including the all-powerful bhut jolokia or "ghost chili" the hottest chili in the universe. I sprinkled this on breakfast this morning and it rocks! I found a review of it online and the reviewer made a hamburger patty and seasoned both sides generously with Dragon Dust and then fried it finishing it off with melted cheese and more Dragon Dust on the molten cheese. That's what I'm trying next! ![]() Thank you Rivet for a wonderful package of goodies! I have a nice box for you I am finishing up to send your way in the next day or two.I encourage everyone to get in on these food exchanges, they are great fun and a really cool way to experience new foods from different places, one of the many great benefits of this forum. i'll try anything once and am always eager to try anything friends send. when hunting season hits i am hopiing to be able to send out some jerky to everyone - and also a few local beers!
