Some on here are aware of my love for Le Creuset cookware. I got an email today for a Mothers' Day special from Williams-Sonoma on the Le Creuset 4 1/2 qt Chef's Oven. The regular price is $240 and it is on sale for $129.95 and if you enter the coupon code SHIP4FREE you save the sixteen bucks shipping. I ordered one for myself in red. I know Le Creuset may seem expensive but when you amortize the cost over the lifetimes of yourself, your kids, your grandkids, and everyone else it will be handed down to it is actually quite reasonable. Speaking from experience my Le Creuset pieces are a joy to cook with and actually inspire me at times to cook just so I can use them.

Sounds like a good deal, Andy, although I consider W-S to have the second worst customer service levels in the culinary world.
That aside; while this certainly doesn't apply to you, I have one cautionary note for people who aren't all that familiar with enamaled cast iron. That 4.25 quart pot is not particularly large. We were gifted, when first married, with a starter set of Le Cruset that included a 4.5 quart Dutch oven (which, just to drive your point home, we still own and use 46 years later). It's barely sufficient when making stews, soups, and similar dishes for a family.
What I'm saying is if somebody is looking at this as their first piece, I would shop around and see what sort of deal can be found on a larger one.
And, if anyone is put off by Le Cruset's prices, I can only quote my old man: "Never be afraid to buy the best. You won't be disappointed!"

That's a good point, thanks. My first Le Creuset pieces were, IIRC, 7 1/2 and 9 qt, either of which are versatile and large enough for the family. This one is more of an impulse purchase because of the great price but I'll put it to good use. Great cookware and well worth the price although I know at first glance it appears to be very expensive.
