This Sardinian and Regional Italian Ristorante, located in Huertas, in Downtown Madrid, two streets from the renowned Westin Palace Hotel, on Ventura De La Vega Street, is profoundly steeped in Italian Film history, enchanting in its black and white decor, and with a highly trained staff who are welcoming and hospital.

 

The Sardinian Owner, Ignazio Deìas, knows how Italians love hefty plates, henceforth he knows his clientel. The clientel is chockful of Italians, both visiting and residing in Madrid and upscale Spaniards, Palace Hotel visiting tourists from an array of countries,  Da Vincci Hotel and Hotel Ritz guests.

 

The Lauretana Sparkling Water and White Wine: Grillo White Grape 100% 2009 OTTOVENTI from Valderice, Sicilia; were are Aperitifs.  Of course, my husband ordered a bottle of Prosecco, as it is my favorite Italian Sparkling white wine. Cál.

 

We shared an array of dishes, including: Red Tuna with 3 salts and Prosciutto di Parma with Red Bosc Pear in a subtle Passito di Panterella Wine Sauce. The quality of the Prosciutto di Parma, was up to par with Parma, Emilia Romagna.

 

I had the Pesto Emulsion with Paccheri Italian short thick pasta with fresh grilled Red Prawns. 

 

The Vet had wild freshly caught Rudder Fish marinated and grilled, and served in 3 styles; sprinkled with sesame, pistachio and poppy seeded.

 

Matera, Basilicata Italian native Giacinto had Pasta Puttanesca for his main, which was absolutely stunning and Cantabrian, Spanish 8 month pregnant Lucia had a 5 cheese Pizza, with an Arugula Salad; as Luca shall be born at the end of January.

 

Desserts were a platter of some specials of the day, including: Funneled Pear Cactus, with fruit caviar, filled with pear cactus icecream in an unforgettable shaped phallic symbol. FOOD FOR THOUGHT.

 

The other desserts, included, a chocolate cheesecake and biscotti.

 

Lovely dinner.

 

The Sardinian Port polished off the meal, with wonderful whimiscal conversation, and a few good laughs.

It was a quiet however, lovely evening spent with two dear friends, and lots of catching up with positively animated conversation, exemplary company, fine wine and splendid food.
