To all -

As many of you know, I'll be leaving with my wife and our youngest son early Thursday morning to tour some of the best parts of Montana:

The map above doesn't quite do a good job of describing the venture - most of the small towns are missing - but roughly (using the towns on the map that we will be going through), our route will be:

Chinook to Fort Benton
Fort Benton to Stanford
Stanford to White Sulphur Springs
White Sulphur Springs to Big Timber
Big Timber to Columbus
Columbus to Red Lodge
Red Lodge down into Wymoing, then to Yellowstone Park
Yellowstone Park to Ennis
Ennis to Butte
Butte to Phillipsburg
Phillipsburg to Missoula
Missoula to Lincoln (North of Helena)
Lincoln to Great Falls
Great Falls to Shelby
Shelby to Havre
Havre to Chinook

We will be gone from 15 August through 21 August, and I hope to be away from cell phone or internet as much as possible. Also, my next couple of days will be very spotty, as I will be doing as much work etc. as I can in order to have things taken care of before I go. Having said that, anyone who needs anything can reach my by email (click here) or by sending a PM. I will indeed get the message sometime and will respond as soon as I can.

We're really looking forward to this as we haven't had a vacation of any kind since 2001, when we toured Glacier National Park in the North-Estern part of Montana, and neither of us have ever been to Yellowstone, even though we're both life-liong Montanans (I was borne in Wurzburg, Baviaria but but we came to Montana when my dad's US Army enlistment was completed.

Enjoy, everyone!

Ron

Sounds like a great loop, Ron.

I hope the timing is right so you can attend the pig races at Red Lodge. A rather unique experience.

I reckon you'll be gnashing your teeth a lot, though, because you'll be driving over, and alongside of, some of the best fishing waters in both states.

Have fun!

I have a plan for this - we'll see if it is successful!

Tas,

Have a wonderful summer break ... Enjoy ... I was in Yellowstone as a very young child. It is memorable ... and reminds me alot of the National Park Reserve; La Sierra de Cazorla, JaƩn in Andalusia ...

I loved Wyoming too especially Jacksonhole ... Truly amazing wilderness, when I was very young ...

All my best regards.
Margaux.

Many thanks, guys ~ I'm looking forward to a great time with family, exploring some areas in my beautiful home state that I've never been to or only been able to drive through before.....and re-visiting some favourite places.

Mark, Ron is back from his mini-vacation. So we can't trash-talk about him behind his back. :>)

Due to time issue at work and home, however, Ron is laying back right now, not posting as often as usual. But he's assured me he has bow coups pix, and will be posting them sooner or later.

But, in a similar vein, it's good to hear from you. How are the classes going?

hey, everyone - yep, i'm back and had an awesome time. we saw things (not just in yellowstone, but on the entire trip) that were truly amazing, and underscored my belief that this world is full of treasure yet to be discovered.

i took - literally - hundreds of photos, including natural wonders, places visited, hotels, motels, inns, restaurants, diners, dives, meals, animals, people, flowers, trees, rocks, buildings, signs and other assorted subjects. will try to organise them, delete the blurry/bad ones, and see what we've got!

more soon, i hope.....

Don't you just love digital cameras? Snap away, review, adjust and retry or just sort it all out later. No waste. I look forward to the Yellowstone pictures.
