Just to let you all know I will be done with exams and assignments at the end of the month (until next year).
I have been quite organised this year and made the Christmas cakes on time. They are being turned and brushed with brandy once every three weeks and smell divine. In the second week of December I will decorate and glaze them.
I don't like marzipan icing and all that white royal sugaryness, so mine are humble, natural looking cakes topped with pretty dried fruits and nuts all glistening with apricot glaze.
It has taken me twenty years to teach Mr Grumpy that they are at their prime when three months old, now he can't stand store bought Christmas Cake because the 'booze' isn't real.
Ah well good things take time. Wink

Nice hearing from you Anne, and I'm glad to hear the pressure will be off you soon.
I'm just getting started with thinking about Christmas. About the only thing I make early ever year is the Potatis Korv, or Swedish potato sausage for the Christmas buffet....I'll be starting on that within the next couple of weeks, and I'll be making a batch or two of smoked nuts as well.

Your fruitcakes sound wonderful..I hope they turn out perfectly.
