Here's a great-tasting treatment for oysters I came across while researching my Sub-Saharan themed dinner.
I actually made them on the grill, instead of the oven, which lends a slight smokiness to the oysters. OYSTERS MOMBASA 32 small shucked oysters on half shells ½ cup melted butter 4 garlic cloves, minced fine 1 cup Chablis or other white wine 4 tbls parsley, chopped 1 tsp salt Few drops hot sauce Lemon wedges for garnish (optional) Put oysters on baking sheets. Combine other ingredients. Ladle 1 tsp of the sauce into each oyster. Bake at 350F for 6-8 minutes. Ladle additional sauce (1 tsp each) into each oyster. Serve immediately with lemon wedges if desired. |

Dang it...that sounds real good.
Too bad oysters are not very reasonable pricewise right now.

By coincidence, Dave, I got them on sale; half a buck each. Still kind of pricy, but not like the 79 cents they'd be selling for.
Gone are the days, alas, when you could head out to the oyster bars and tong you a tow sack full |

That sounds tasty Brook. I love oysters, so this will definitely go on my must try list.

I think you'll like 'em, Darko. Sort of like a mignonette, only with wine instead of vinegar.

I'll check later on the pricing around here. Maybe tonight on the grill.
