If you haven't heard, be prepared for some confusion as the grilling season takes off.

Pork chops are getting new names. In fact, more than 300 cuts of pork and beef are being renamed.

In the case of pork chops, the industry wants to make the cuts sound like the more familiar beef analogs; making them comparable to steak names.

You can hear the details here: http://www.aol.com/video/pork-chops-getting-snazzy-new-names/517735131/?icid=maing-grid10%7Clegacy%7Cvideo-module%7Csec2_lnk1%7C294295

Not looking forward to it, and don't plan to use the "new" designations; they seem ridiculous to me ~ Confused

But, I suppose as my generation dies off, the ones coming up will never know the difference....

In Spain, we have: Spanish ( Castillan ), Galician, Euskera ( Basque ), Valenician and Catalan ...

However, the meat  type cuts and fish / seafood cuts are all the same --- and date back historically.

Interesting topic !  The Government and the Marketing Agencies, have nothing better to do !

I saw that the other day.  I will hopefully be able to disregard all of it and just look go by looks...this naming is going to screw up all the people cooking recipes.  Could you imagine 10 years out when the confusion will really begin.
