I have been salivating over this recipe since I first saw the post, and could not wait any longer to give it a test drive. Incredibly simple to make and a real palate pleaser.

I'm putting it in a separate post simply because I tweaked the recipe a tad, and did not want to corrupt the integrity of JD's http://foodsoftheworld.activeboards.net/chinese-style-chicken-thighs_topic308.html - original post .

Started out by gathering my ingredients as always, and skinning some chicken thighs, and cutting away any unnecessary fat.

Then it was time to mix up the sauce ingredients...in went the garlic paste, vinegar, soy sauce, orange juice, honey, vegetable oil, a little seame oil and some powdered ginger.

The tweaks are: honey rather than sugar, powdered ginger, and sesame oil. That's all i changed.

Then I poured it over the chicken and popped it in a 375°F oven

While the chicken was getting happy, I had plenty of time to prepare and pan brown some Brussels sprouts, and get a little Jasmine rice started.

Here is the chicken after 30 minutes...I took it out and basted it, popped it back in and got the sprouts and rice going.

when the chicken hit 165° I turned the oven off, and poured the sauce off into a skillet, added the cornstarch and water mix and thicken it up...then we plated and had quite a little feast.

I thought this was a terrific recipe...the orange juice in the sauce was a very nice touch, and I'm glad I added the ginger to give it that little bite. Mrs. Hoser thought the recipe was perfect as is, and I will make it again....but probably with some crushed red pepper in there as well.

Great recipe, and thank you JDonly1 for the original post!

dave, that looks wonderful ~ when you brought this post back up recently, i was thinking of giving it a go, marinating the thighs in the sauce and then grilling them and brushing on the marinade, which would later become the sauce after boiling and thickening......

yours looks very good, and i am committed to trying it ~ outstanding work!
