In the photo below, one shall see a Greek Traditional plain yogurt, however, it was produced in Germany ( Alemania ).  The Corporation is owned by Greeks and Germans; there is quite a large Greek Community in Germany, due to the awful crisis.

The taste, aromas and texture profile is 100% Greek; Goat Milk yogurt 100%, a sour flavor profile and very thick. Traditional Greek Yogurt is prepared with goat milk or ewe milk.

This brand of Greek Yogurt is sold only at Lidl, a German International Supermarket Chain in Europe, and is quite popular amongst foreigners and expats in Spain.

WHAT BRAND OF GREEK YOGURT DO YOU PURCHASE ?

Souvlaki, Good Morning,

Thank you for your Greek Yogurt recommendation ... I see it is a 100% Cow Milk Yogurt ...

Do you combine milk types or use 100% cow milk ?

We do prefer the goat milk yogurt and milk ...

In Crete, I had developed quite a fondness for goat milk yogurt and ewe milk yogurt too !!!

Which part of Greece mainland is the Designation of Origin and dairy cow country ?  I have forgotten ... Been awhile since we spent time there ( 1992 - 1995 ).

Home-preparing ... Wonderful and alot better than packaged ....

Shall definitely look at the website you have recommended.

Kindest Always. Margaux.

Hi Margi,

I use 100% cow milk, from organic farms. I think it has more neutral taste copared to goat and sheep milk so I can cobine it vith frouits, honey or marmalades better.

I live in Greece for 12 years, so as far as I know Northern continental part is rich with valleys and mountains so cow milk I would say Macedonia, Thrace (Serres, Kavala, Drama) and some parts of Peloponissos.
The islands have more goats and sheeps.

I like sheep milk yogurt also.

Good Afternoon Souvlaki,

Yes, always a pleasure to hear from you.

1)  Peloponissos and Macedonia are Cow Dairy Country ... rich emerald grazing pastures ...

2) The islands:  goat and sheep milk on cliff - ravine arid arid lands ...

3) I love REAL GOAT OR SHEEP MILK ( a cow too ) Greek Yogurt in Greece, and have tried millions of brands here in Iberia; and the best to date has been this German & Greek Corporation, which import to Lidl Supermarkets in Spain. This has been wonderful for us ...

Kind regards.
Margaux.
