A friend lives in Alaska, he tells me that the whitefish, the real one, not one of several other fish that are called "whitefish" because they are not red or pink as salmon are, is not much to eat, with one exception.
The sheefish, which is in the same genus as the other whitefish is a very good tasting fish.
I have been looking for a place to order some canned sheefish but so far have not found any. Anyone have a source?

Drinks, it's unlikely that you'll be successful as there is no commercial fishery for sheefish.

Sheefishing is reserved for subsistence and sport fisherman. So, unless you know somebody who fishes Alaska (or make the trip yourself) you won't be tasting it soon.

HF, the friend in Alaska has told me there is a group in Northern Canada, that is processing and canning sheefish, however, he has not found a web site for them.
Do you have any idea how to find them?

Sorry, Drinks. I don't know anything about the Canadian fishery, just the Alaskan one.

The name threw me for a few minutes.
I used to work as a chef in the Northwest Territories.
This fish is a very common fish in Canada's North.
We nickname it a "Conie"
But it is known as a "Inconnu"

It is quite oily so is normally smoked in the region where I worked

Percebes, can you give me a website where I can order canned or smoked sheefish/inconnu?
Thanks.

I can not give you a website at this time, but I have asked the question and will post here if I find a source.
All the inconnu I cooked was brought in fresh through the back door locally caught in Inuvik NWT.
I personally have never seen it canned but I worked there over 15 years ago so much has probably changed.

Here is all that I have found so far.
Company is called Freshwater Fish and has whole frozen Inconnu.
They don't sell direct to public , but you possibly might be able to order from one of their US customers which do business in 20 US States.

Contact their office to get a list of where you can purchase
