Good Morning ..

Due to the  "Recalling" of Packets of Pre Mixed Chili Spice Mix, I had thought it a good idea to post 2 styles of Preparing one´s own mix.

STYLE 1.  EASY AS A, B, C:

1 tablespoon of Chili Powder
1 Teaspoon ground Cumin
1 / 4   Teaspoon of Cayenne Ground
1 / 4  Teaspoon ground garlic powder
1 / 2  Teaspoon Onion powder
1 / 4 tsp.  ground black pepper
1 tsp. salt

Combine and cover for 24 hours .. 



STYLE 2.  AUTHENTIC TEX MEX STYLE:

3 ANCHO CHILIES
3  CASCABEL CHILIES
3  ARBOLES CHILIES

These fresh chillies need to be de-seeded, and sautéed in Spanish olive oil
until they are " powdery " in form .. then strained and left to dry ..  

GROUND ONION

OREGANO

PIMENTÓN AHUMADO ( SMOKED PIMENTÓN ) - AVAILABLE IN ANY LATIN AMERICAN SUPERMARKET SECTION OR  LATIN GROCER ..  IN A TIN FROM LA VERA, EXTREMADURA, SPAIN ..

Combine all ..

Voila !   Chili Spice !

Just to keep things on the up and up, Margi, the government did not issue a recall. Conagra voluntarily recalled certain products because one of its suppliers found salmonella in a raw product.

Testing of the chili spice mix products reveals no contamination, but Conagra decided to recall them anyway for the sake of caution.

Considering how badly big agriculture has handled these issues in the past, I, for one, applaud Conagra's move.
