I received this Pakistani recipe from a great gal who does some really nice cooking for her family. It has a really nice flavor profile and looks like It would taste very good; yet at the same time, it also should be very easy to make, any night of the week.
Here's the recipe:
Keema Aloo
1/2 cup chopped onions 3 or 4 chopped garlic cloves 1/2 cup oil 2 tablespoons curry powder 1 tablespoon cumin 1 tablespoon coriander 1/2 teaspoon red pepper powder 1/2 teaspoon turmeric 1.5 tablespoons salt 1/4 cup water 2 to 2.5 pounds ground beef 3 to 4 medium potatoes (cut into pieces 1 15oz can diced tomatoes 3/4 to 1 cup plain yoghurt 1 15oz can small peas (or frozen)
Sauté onion in oil until golden brown. Add the garlic and sauté for a minute or two.
Combine spices in water and stir to make a loose paste. Add the spice mixture to the onion and garlic. Keep heat on low, stirring occasionally, until the water evaporates and spices separate from oil.
Add the beef and cook on medium heat until browned.
Add the potatoes, cover and cook until potatoes are done.
Add the yoghurt, tomatoes and peas. Cook until water and oil separate.

Serve with rice.
