Got to love the slow cooker...

Here we go....

First, the Pork roast is placed in the slow cooker, add in the sliced onions and the bell peppers, the orange is nice, or go with red, or green, it's all personal preference....

Add in the Chicken broth...

Pour on the Chili Verde sauce, not very pretty, but VERY tasty....

The roasts we used had the handy dandy little pop out thermometers, and since we are working with pork, make sure it's cooked all the way through...

You take out the meat, and then shred the pork...

After shredding, this is how it looks...

Place on flour tortillas, sour cream...

To recap the recipe...

1 yellow onion (sliced thin)
1 orange bell pepper (sliced thin)
4 1/2 lbs boneless pork shoulder picnic roast
1 large container of chicken broth
15 oz green chili sauce

Cooked on high in the slow cooker for 5 hours. then shredded.

Wow another carnitas post...delicioso! This is a new way of making them that I've not heard of but definitely looks tasty. Reminds me more of an "aguado" than carnitas- I guess I'm just used to carnitas being dry. That broth looks excellent and wonder what you used it for after the carnitas were gone (quickly I'm sure!) looks like a delicious base for a stew or soup!

i can vouch for this one too, guys - i got to give one of the carnitas a try, and it was great!
