Managed to pick up a commercial quality domestic gas range from an upscale house renovation. The unit is about 10 years old but hardly used (apparently rich people don’t cook). Would have cost $6k new, I brought it home for $250 and had it installed last night.
15000BTU burners all around, plus they’re all dual burners so have secondary simmer burners. Electric convection oven. Always wanted something like this. Have to upgrade my range hood, though. |

Wow! that's a great score! Congrats. It's getting close to time to replace my current electric range, I want to go gas but the wife is scared of it. sigh, so we'll probably be going with another electric. If I found a deal like that though I'd do it in a heartbeat and tell her where she can go ;-)

Busy weekend moving SD21 into the house she rented in university town and doing a short notice painting of the fucking mess of a room (long story, but she didn’t know it was that bad).
Anyway, today was more relaxing, so I fired up the Kamado charcoal and broiled some pork tenderloin on indirect heat, and stir-fried some garlic, mushrooms and peppers on the new stove. All that extra heat was awesome for stir-frying. It was done in literally 2 minutes and was perfectly crunchy and tender. Other times I’ve tried stir-fries with an electric it ends up with a wet mush in the bottom of the wok. Not this time!! ![]() ![]() |
