One of our long time members, Historic Foodie´s ( Brook ) lovely wife Barbara, had some serious vertebrae back surgery on Friday, and she is reported to be doing well, with a speedy recovery despite the seriousness of this type of operation.
The most important issue, was she was un-diagnosed and the culprit to her difficulties had been found during the surgery.
Brook is even cooking for her, as Hospital Food is not the best grub, for recovering patients.
This is excellent news, and thus, the MIA, missing in action on Brook´s behalf.
All my best to Barbara´s speedy recovery,
Kindest always,
Margi.

Mr. Foodie, my best wishes go out to your wife for her speedy recovery. I'm sure she'll heal nicely with the benefit of fine home cooking while she recovers.

Thank you all for your expressions of concern. It's much appreciated.
Friend Wife is scheduled for release from the hospital tomorrow. I'll be playing nursemaid fulltime for about two weeks, after which it's expected she'll start coping on her own.
So, I'll be checking in time to time. But it's not likely I'll be as active as usual.

Just an update.
Barbara is home from the hospital. The doctor is very pleased with her progress. Me too. I never thought she'd be recovering this quickly. She's moving around fairly well and is in good spirits.
For those who asked, she was suffering three problems. First was a degenerative disk problem. Second, and more serious, due to osteo-arthritis the channel in some of her lower vertebrae were too small for the nerve passage. Game plan was to replace two disks with titanium spacers, open the channel, and bolt two vertebrae together.
Meanwhile, only semi-related, she'd been suffering with neuropathy-like symptoms in her left let. Numbness, tingling in the feet, sharp pains, etc. Only it wasn't all the time, which is the usual sign of neuropathy.
When the surgeon opened her up he discovered a couple of bone spurs that were pressing on the spinal nerves. These showed up in none of the fancy, high-tech diagnostic tests. Merely proving what every infantryman knows---that all the intel in the world doesn't compare with boots on the ground.
He removed them, and that solved the complete problem with her leg.
So, we're very optomistic that once she's fully healed (about six weeks to full movement), she'll be in better shape than she's been in years.
Thank you all, again, for your wishes and concern.

Thanks for the well wishes, Darko.
She's doing very well. Range of motion improves every day, and no pain.
Today we go in to have the sutures (staples, actually) removed, which should help even more.
Meanwhile, I'm developing all sorts of new skills---like running the clothes washer and dryer.
