This Kiss ( keeping it simply simply ) recipe, hails from Zürich, where my younger daughter Nathalia, her husband and my 3 grandchildren, the twins; Fillippo, Christophe and Baby Anthony Luca were born and are being raised. These Snowmen Cookies, are a fave treat, and a tradition, that we prepare them together, when we visit.
Swiss Snowmen Cookies ...
8 Ounces of Philadelphia Brand creamcheese softened at room temperature
1 cup of powdered sugar
1 1/2 sticks of butter
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
2 cups of A.P. Flour ( I would go with 2 1/8 cups of flour, as this dough tends to be sticky)
1/2 tsp. baking soda
Dust wooden board with flour lightly
1) combine the cheese, sugar, butter and vanilla with an electric mixer
2) mix on medium speed until well combined
3) add the flour, baking soda and mix thoroughly
4) shape the dough into equal number of 1/2 inch and 1 inch diameter balls
5) using 1 small and 1 large ball for each snowman
6) place the balls slightly overlapping on an ungreased cookie sheet
7) flatten to 1/4 inch thickness with bottom of glass dipped in additional flour and repeating with remaining dough
8) pre heat oven to 325 fareneheit and bake for 19 to 21 minutes; or until lightly browned
9) cool on rack
10) sprinkle 3ach with sifted powdered sugar, and decorate with non pareils, gels, sprinkles, chocolate chip eyes, and assorted sweets to adorn
11) serve on a tray
