It's that time of the year.

That was a half bushel of plum tomatoes.
I cut out the stem end, quarter them, and put them into the food processor for a minute. When I pour them through the seive it removes the seeds. The puree then goes into a big pot and is brought to a boil. Meanwhile, the big canning pot is on another burner heating up.
Once the big canner is ready the puree goes into the jars, the lids go on, and they get processed.
All that's left to do is enjoy the feeling of accomplishment.

Eleven and a half quarts out of a half bushel.

very nice looking, will! i've done crushed tomatoes and dried cherry tomatoes (wow those are good) but haven't yet tried tomatoe puree. hopefully will have enough tomatoes to give this a try this year - if not then next year for sure!
