In Spain, it is not the Epiphany without The El Roscon de Los Magos, The 3 Kings Cake which is a large doughnut shaped tart glazed with glazing sugar and glazed fruits, Sultana Raisins and filled with Candy coins, candies & figurines of the 3 Wise Men or 3 Kings. In France, the Gateaux des Rois, is completely different in appearance however, it is filled with a figurine and historically with beans .. In Italy, this holiday is called Befana, The Good Witch, and pastries are dedicated to her, and have a similar profound historical signifcance. Does any one here celebrate and make a special tart on this day ? This year, we shall purchase a Roscon de Reyes small tart, at our local bakery .. And lunch is going to be Roast Lamb, traditional Spanish Style, and typical Spanish appetisers. Have a wonderful weekend. It is back to work on the 8th here in Spain. *** Tas, Could you please bring up the Spanish 3 Kings Tart Recipe for all of us ? Thank you and Happy Epiphany Day .. Have a lovely weekend. |
