HEB Grocery Co.
Has a number of stores in the southwest and even some in Mexico. Started in 1903 at Kerrville TX. The name is the initials of the originator, Herbert Edward Butt. Headquarters are at San Antonio Tx. I really wish there was a store here but the 2 nearest are both over 25 miles away. |

I know what you mean about distance. The town we live near rarely has anything we need other that basics. So it's off to Lexington, 30 miles away.
Over the years we've ferreted out the small, specialty and ethnic markets that quietly ply their trade out in the neighborhood. But it takes some doing to find them. When we make the trip to Lexington we do a round-robin that might include as many as 8 different shops---the Indian market for such and such spices, the Korean for those ingredients, the MittleEuropean shop for yet others. And, OMG, don't forget the curry leaves, which are only available from the Iranian guy. Maybe a stop at the one---count 'em one---restaurant supply store for some needed equipment. By the time we're done, we've put on 80 miles or more. And, when it's all over, we still have to mail order stuff. |

However, can you imagine living in a city all the time?
We are just outside a town with 2500 pop. This is plenty big enough for me. |

Not hardly. I grew up in the Big Apple. When I was younger the city was my mistress. Now? She's jus an old crone that I want no part of. Or any city, for that matter. |
