This is not my compilation, but I wish I would have thought of it. It was originally posted here:

I'd rather be wrapped in SPAM and locked in a room for a month than try any one of those....that banana thing is just wrong.

Sic Transit Glorious Mundi---and Tuesday will be worse, as many of these dishes prove.
Could it be that the foodie revolution wasn't so much based on a new-found sophistication, but on a rebellion against these, and similar, charmers from the '50s and '60s? |

Great point, about the rebellion against these 50's and 60's selections. These were two devastating decades, to much that is good about food. I love how you call them charmers from the 50's and 60's. yeah, that's what they were alright, charmers ![]() Hope you're feeling better

Shoot. I'd try them all. I'll pretty much try anything once. Well except the liver pineapple thing, 'cause I can't stand liver, so it would just be a waste to try it.
Was actually thinking the banana/ham/hollandaise thing didn't sound too bad. maybe use prosciutto instead of ham. Was also thinking using a caramel or maple glaze instead of hollandaise, but by then you've changed it so much it doesn't really sound like the original. |
