As most of you know, I recently ordered a 12.8-inch (32.5-cm) cazuela from www.latienda.com in preparation for my bacalao al pil-pil project:
![]() I was pretty excited to see it when it arrived yesterday, right on schedule; unfortunately, it arrived broken, most likely due to a combination of the extremely cold weather we've been having and someone not being totally careful.
This wasn't too big a surprise or a tragedy; after all, it is earthenware piece, so there is some risk. I called La Tienda this morning and asked if I could get a return label, so that I could send it back and arrange a replacement. To my surprise and delight, the gal on the phone said that they would ship a new one out right away, and that I could simply dispose of the damaged one.
This, to me, is excellent service, and I wanted to give La Tienda credit for exhibiting it. Thanks to their trust, I will receive a replacement much more quickly, without the necessary delay caused by return, inspection etc. This was my second order from La Tienda, and both times I've been met with very pleasant service and a high commitment to quality.
Hats off to La Tienda - Thank you!

Sorry to hear it arrived broken, Ron.
When I worked at one of the UPS stores my boss used to say, "you can break anything if you drive it through a wall." That was after I custom glass sculpture, consisting of seven pieces, I had packed managed to get broken in transit.
The shipper was aghast. When he came in to file a claim he said to me, "I stood there and watched you pack it. How could anyone possibly have broken it?" How? See comment above.
That aside, +1 on La Tienda. I've used them several times, and have always been more than satisfied with their products and service.

Aye, Brook - the cazuela was packaged very well, completely encased in bubble wrap and with plenty of room in the box - I blame the cold, which surely multiplied the effects of even the slightest bump.
Or perhaps, there was a wall involved somewhere?

Mebbe it was the cold, Ron. That certainly didn't help. But I'm always reminded of an old New Yorker cartoon. Two guys in what is obviously a shipping hub. One is yelling to the other, "this one's marked fragile, George. Toss it underhand!"

Tas. So so sorry; La Tienda has the largest Spanish goods market share outside of Iberia ! They want repeat business. Keep us posted on replacement.

My cazuela arrived yesterday in fine condition, and it looks great! kudos to La Tienda for their outstanding service, and I am very much looking forward to the culinary journeys I will be taking with it ~
